About Clark's Guitars

I started out in the middle of 2007 with a simple need - I only had a twelve string acoustic.   Because that's what I learned on, that's just what I've always had.   When my good friend Terry was helping me learn to play lead a bit better he suggested I get myself a good six string to play with as playing lead on a twelve string was rather difficult - and redundant, as a twelve string is more intended for rhythmic playing with chords and such.

So, long story short, I admittedly couldn't afford the three thousand dollars it would cost for the guitar I wanted so I thought I'd build one instead.   While searching the internet for the "dos and don'ts" of guitar building I found that there were many, many sites that gave first hand accounts of how to build an acoustic guitar - but what I didn't find was a site that would tell me what NOT to do.

This lead me to create a simple website with a blog - for me to jot down all the mistakes I knew I would inevitably make, hopefully saving someone from experiencing some of the headaches that I went through.

Switching gears, from the time Terry visited my house with his old Fender Telecaster I knew that's the guitar I wanted.   Its sleek design and vintage twang just got the best of me.   It was then that I decided to stick with custom Telecasters.   I just love the look and feel of the instrument.

We build the best of the best, a culmination of knowledge from several leading edge players and critics.   If you can imagine it, we can probably build it for you. I hope you'll enjoy one some day.

Cheers
